We know it is never easy to surrender your pet. Our pets become a part of our families. Deciding to rehome them can be difficult. Life circumstances can change, and we are here to help.
Please complete the surrender application below. We strive to bring animals into our care as quickly as possible; however, intake timing depends on available space and the needs of the animals currently in our shelter. Each animal may require different medical treatments, procedures, or isolation periods due to illness, which can affect when space becomes available.
Please keep in mind that we are not always able to predict exactly when an opening will become available for your pet. Once we receive your application, we will contact you to confirm that it has been received and, if possible, provide an estimated timeframe for intake. When a space becomes available, we will reach out to schedule your pet's surrender appointment.
If you are in immediate need of rehoming your pet, we encourage you to contact other shelters and rescue organizations as well, as they may have space available sooner.

​Disclaimer: By surrendering your animal to the Grant County Humane Society, you voluntarily and permanently relinquish all ownership rights and interests in the animal. Once surrendered, the animal becomes the property of the Grant County Humane Society, and the organization assumes full authority to make all decisions regarding the animal’s care, treatment, placement, transfer, adoption, or other disposition as deemed appropriate to serve the animal’s best interests and to facilitate finding a suitable home. The Grant County Humane Society is an Adoption Guarantee Shelter, meaning we are committed to finding a home for every healthy and treatable animal in our care, regardless of how long it takes. Each animal is evaluated individually, and every reasonable effort is made to provide appropriate care and placement opportunities. A surrender fee is required for all animals being surrendered. The fee is $50 per animal for Grant County residents and $100 per animal for residents of all other counties. All surrender fees are assessed on a per-animal basis and are due at the time of surrender unless otherwise approved by Grant County Humane Society management.
