Kennel Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Kennel Assistant to join our team. As a Kennel Assistant, you will play a vital role in providing care and support to the animals at our Humane Society. We are dedicated to providing a safe environment for domestic dogs and cats until a new home is found. 

Job Type: Part Time
Pay Range: $10 to $12 per Hour
Expected Hours: Range from 2 to 10 hours  per week
Shift:
​Evenings  7pm-9pm Weekdays & Weekend
Mornings 7am-11am Weekdays & Weekend 
Various Shifts available 
Primarily Evenings
Must be available on Holidays

Duties:

Provide daily care and attention to animals including feeding, watering, and exercise
Clean and sanitize kennels, cages, and common areas to maintain a clean and safe environment
Administer medications as directed by veterinary staff
Monitor the health and behavior of animals and report any concerns to management
Maintain accurate records of animal care, medications, and treatments

​Experience & Skills
Self-motivation and initiative with an overall LOVE, CARE and KNOWLEDGE of animals
Previous experience working with animals is preferred but not required
Knowledge of basic animal care practices and procedures is a plus
Strong communication skills, positive attitude, and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Ability to handle animals safely and compassionately
Proficiency in dog handling and animal behavior
Knowledge of veterinary procedures is a plus
Ability to stand for extended periods of time and lift 40 plus pounds
Must have reliable transportation to and from work location
Must be 18 years of age or older

Monday - Friday: 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Saturday: 10:00 am - 1:00 pm
Sunday and Holidays - Closed

*Appointments outside of normal hours are possible.
